It typically has a single face that is higher on one end than the other. This style of roof is commonly referred to as a lean to or skillion type of roof. Whereas a hip roof and other popular roof types have at least two sides the shed roof has a single slope that can vary in steepness depending on the design. Skillion roofs are one of the simplest roof styles used in shed building.

The shed style allowed more windows near the high wall roofline which adds a lot of light. The greater roof slope sheds snow and water easily too. 3 single slope shed roof probably one of the simplest shed roof designs out there.
